    Palimpseste

A collaboration project with writer Paul Kintziger.

Paul asked me to illustrate poems he’d been writing over the last 60 years. After some thorough reading and discussion, we chose eleven texts about childhood and old age, dreams, hopes, frustrations, and life’s ways.

I was given carte blanche to create images that illustrate, complete, contrast, or give context to Paul’s poems; developing, researching, drawing and sketching was a very special experience, as I normally work according to my own ideas and subjects.

I transferred the drawings to plates and cut and printed each as a relief print.

These were scanned and, together with the texts screen printed in an edition of 25.

The following pictures give an impression of the work that, including pauses and interruptions for technical reasons, took the better part of a year.

We are now happy to present the collection « Palimpseste », 11 screen printed pages of image and text on A3 Hahnemühle Echt Bütten paper in a beautiful box.

The original blocks will be printed without text, as relief prints in an edition of 10.
